Quilt a Scrappy Pouch - Sunday October 13 '24 (ENGLISH)
Learn to make a pouch with a zipper using fabric scraps to create an unique design. The pouch outer shell is quilted and it comes with added batting and lining. Sustainable, unique and so fun to do!
For whom
This course is for beginner sewists who know how to use a sewing machine and want to learn some of the basics of quilting without having to work on a whole quilt project. The use of scraps of different sizes, prints and colours will allow you to be creative and make a pouch different to anybody else’s.

Set up
What are you going to learn?
- How sew together different shaped pieces of fabric to create the outer shell of your pouch
- Quilting the pouch using a layer of batting, a walking foot and an easy design
- How to add lining and sew a zipper
- Basic quilting terms, best tools for beginners and quilt piecing techniques
- Step by step creating a fun pouch
After this workshop ...
...you will go home with a totally personalized and sustainable scrappy quilted pouch! You will also get a pdf with the instructions on how to make the pouch at home as many times as you want to as well as a glossary with quilting terms and inspiration.
For sure it will be a fun afternoon with loads of laughs, fun and relaxation.
The teacher
This workshop will be facilitated by Ana Valls from CocoWawa Crafts. Ana is a skilled sewing and quilting teacher based in the Netherlands. She designs dressmaking and quilting patterns for the modern maker. She will teach this workshop in English.

The price of this fun afternoon is €79,-
The price includes:
- Coffee, tea and sweets
- All required materials:
- Quilting cotton fabric scraps
- Batting
- Quilting cotton lining
- Zipper
- Organic or recycled thread
- Use of the sewing machine and other tools like quilting ruler, rotary cutter, cutting mat, walking foot, and other common sewing tools: pins, scissors, unpicker…
You don't have to bring anything, however if you have fabric or old clothing you like to reuse in the pouch, you may. Please be aware the fabric needs to be made out of 100% cotton. Our teacher will decide if the fabric is suitable to combine in your pouch.
Please note: the fabrics for the workshop will be different every time. The pouch and fabric combinations in the photos are examples.
