Always wanted to learn how to quilt, but do you feel the precision of the process and the size of a quilt are daunting? Then join this fun workshop in which you learn the basics of the whole quilting process in one day! You go home with a colourful small quilt.
For whom
This fun in-depth course is for beginner sewists who know how to use a sewing machine and would like to make their first quilt (50x50cm) using a sewing machine. We will be working with quilting cotton and creating the popular Half Square Triangles blocks, which can be used in countless quilt designs.

Set up
What are you going to learn?
- How to piece together a quilt top using a sewing machine and the Half-Square Triangle block
- The sandwich stage in which quilt top, batting and backing are joined together
- You will also learn how to quilt it using a simple design
- How to make bias binding from quilting cotton
- After that, you will attach the bias tape to bind the edges of the quilt in order to finish it
- You will step by step create a fun and neat mini quilt (50x50 cm)
After this workshop ...
......you will leave the course with instructions on how to recreate this Mini Quilt again if desired as well as a summary of everything else you have learned at the workshop including basic quilting terms, best tools for beginners and block piecing and quilting techniques.
For sure it will be a fun afternoon with loads of laughs, fun and relaxation.
The teacher
This workshop will be facilitated by Ana Valls from CocoWawa Crafts. Ana is a skilled sewing and quilting teacher based in the Netherlands. She designs dressmaking and quilting patterns for the modern maker. She will teach this workshop in English.

The price of this fun workshops is €155,-
The price includes:
- Coffee, tea and sweets
- A wonderful lunch
- All required materials:
- Quilting cotton for the top, back and bias binding
- Sustainable batting
- Organic or recycled thread
- Use of the sewing machine and other tools like quilting ruler, rotary cutter, cutting mat, walking foot, and other common sewing tools: pins, scissors, unpicker…
You don't have to bring anything, however if you have fabric or old clothing you like to reuse in the mini quilt, you may. Please be aware the fabric needs to be made out of 100% cotton. Our teacher will decide if the fabric is suitable to combine in your mini quilt.
Please note: the fabrics for the workshop will be different every time. The mini quilt and fabric combinations in the photos are examples.
